Staff Picks: The Frame
Staff Picks is dedicated to surfacing the best music, film, and art downloads on the Internet; digitally handmade by BitTorrent Publishers. Read on for this week’s finds.
In this edition of Staff Picks: a first look at the riveting new mystery film from writer/director Jamin Winans. The Los Angeles Times compared Winans’ work to that of Robert Rodriguez and Peter Jackson. A first glimpse at The Frame makes it easy to understand why.
The Frame is the follow-up to Winans’ widely successful sci-fi fantasy film Ink. Winans self-released the 2009 film, embracing non-traditional distribution models and peer-to-peer sharing. The result: a global audience brought the film to life. Fans subtitled the movie into over thirty different languages, leading to millions of downloads around the world. Winans had discovered a new model. After years of disappointing distribution deals and legal hang-ups, his $250k budget film was a profitable success for the his crew and investors.
For the release of The Frame, Winens’ has once again embraced the power of the swarm. A first look at the movie is available now on BitTorrent Bundle. Download the Bundle to unlock the HD trailer, the first track from the film’s score, and stills from the movie. Follow Winans’ Double Edge Films on Facebook and Twitter to stay posted on more details about the release of The Frame this fall.
About BitTorrent Bundle
BitTorrent Bundle is an alpha project made with and for the web’s creative community. Our mission is to help artists connect directly with fans, inside the content they share.
Each BitTorrent Bundle allows artists to distribute content directly to the Internet. And each Bundle comes with a key. Fans can unlock artist content with an email address. The idea is to make each song a storefront, and each file more valuable, every time it’s shared. Got ideas for the next BitTorrent Bundle? Hit us up.
