On September 8th, we invited BitTorrent fans to download the album’s catalog of multitracks, and remix them. To date, the innocents Bundle has been downloaded more than 2 million times. Want to join the remix project? Here’s how to unlock the stems and stories behind the songs.
What you’ll need:
1. BitTorrent // Download and follow the simple install instructions.
2. Audacity // Any audio editor will do. (We like Audacity: It’s free and open source.)
Step 1: Get the multitracks
Download the Moby Bundle (kick in your email to get everything you need).
In your Downloads folder, you’ll find the files you need to drag into BitTorrent. (Drag ‘BitTorrent-MobyInnocents-Unlocked-signed.torrent’ into BitTorrent. Do the same for all the other files you downloaded.)
Step 3: Import the Multitracks
Run Audacity and start a new project. Select and drag all the tracks (find the downloaded tracks in your Downloads folder) on to the Audacity project. They’ll load as waveforms.
Step 5: Mix it Up
Begin remixing. Delete, mute, slice, pitch, or change the speed of the tracks using Audacity’s controls and effect filters. If you want to learn more about Audacity’s features, check out video tutorials online. If you have a mic or an instrument, you can make new tracks using the record button. Remember to save as you go. When you like what you hear, move to the next step.
Step 6: Export the Track
Go to File and Export, give your track a name, and click Save. Exporting will combine all the multitracks into one track for Moby to hear.
